Mercy Night is a special initiative designed to extend various means of God's Mercy that began during the Jubilee Year of Mercy in the Diocese of Phoenix. Bishop Olmstead had commissioned the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit to be missionaries of mercy for The Diocese of Phoenix.
Just like the Year of Mercy, come experience a first Friday Mercy Night of Worship, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Confessions, and Healing Prayer all focused on the theme of God’s infinite and amazing Mercy and Love.
Priests will be present to hear confessions. During Adoration there also will be a special talk and meditation on Mercy by one of the Friars.
The night will begin at 7 p.m. and officially end at 9 p.m., but the Friars are prepared to stay until all confessions have been heard and all those desiring prayer have received it.
Even if you can’t join us, please keep the Mercy Nights in your prayers.
I am always struck when I reread the parable of the merciful Father. …The Father, with patience, love, hope and mercy, had never for a second stopped thinking about [his wayward son], and as soon as he sees him still far off, he runs out to meet him and embraces him with tenderness, the tenderness of God.
The Mercy Night takes place around the Blessed Sacrament. At a point in the evening after the praise and meditations there is a Eucharistic Procession where Jesus is carried through the church, bringing his Eucharistic Mercies to each person.
Praise and Worship
"Yet You are holy, Enthroned on the praises of Israel." Psalm 22:3.
By lifiting our voices in prayer and praise we honor God, and enter more deeply into his Holy Presence. Many people deeply experience Gods Mercy during these times of praise.
“Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” - Jesus to the woman at the well.
In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we encounter the full power of Gods Mercy.
Prayer ministery offers a special time of prayer and focus for each person who comes to be prayed with. During prayer ministry two lay minister pray for healing, forgiveness and blessing for whoever comes to them. Many miracles of Gods Mercy happen during this kind of ministry.
